Battle of the Books is an elective book-related competition that students can choose to join. We read books off the annual Wisconsin Educational Media Technology Association (WEMTA) Battle of the Books lists, play review games, and participate in discussions in preparation for our school-wide tournament that begins in January. Students create teams for the tournament. The winning team in our school wide tournament goes on to the online state competition in February.
Student sign up for Battle of the Books begin in the fall. We form teams of two to four students. Fifth grade uses the state elementary list for our competition while sixth grade uses the middle school list. We use Google Classroom to hold our practice resources and schedules.
